When should we switch to MJ9 Licensing?
« on: November 09, 2002, 02:38:26 pm »

Hi MJ(aka J Rivers) and All,

I am running MJ 8.0.388 and it works fine for me.  The question is, should I upgade my MJ7 license to 9.0, in the future or now?  I also have a license for DFX.  Will that workl on MJ 9.0?

I am willing to purchase it anytime, but I am afraid that it will hurt my current installation.

Thanks for Everything,

Murph

If you're using 8.0.388, you have nothing to lose (except your hard-earned money  :P).  Just download 9.0 and, if you like it, purchase.  If you change your mind, that license will work with 8.0.

The FAQ under Jukebox/Purchase above may help.

Are you implying that MJ9 beta2 is as safe as MJ 8.0.388?  I ask because Matt still has his disclaimer: IMPORTANT-- This is beta software -- some things don't work, some things crash, and your database and tags may not be totally safe.

Also, JimH, in the FAQ under Jukebox/Purchase, it says that a V9.0 license will work with V8.0, but it doesn't say that an 8 license will work with 9.  I thought I remembered that, and I found it in your 'MJ 9.0 beta is available' post:  A V8 license purchased before release of V9 will work with V9.  A V9 license will work with V8.

Maybe you want to add that to the FAQ (unless it's already there, and I missed it).
