I want to copy images from my data drive to my c:\htdocs folder and have MC auto create an index.html file in the folder. This way I can easily put my images on the web.

To do this, I select my images, right click, select Send To > Email/web > Web or ftp server.  Once here, I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to send them via ftp; I just want to copy them to subfolder in c:\htdocs\
It doesn't matter what I type in the address bar (I've tried the full web address with the port, localhost, and even just the folder structure, ie c:\htdocs\etc), MC always tells me that it cannot login.

Right now, you can't do that.  MC will build the page and upload it to an FTP server, but it won't save it locally.  Maybe later we'll add that.

You'll need something like this:

address: ftp.your_isp.com/public_html/2004

path: summer/quebec

The address is a server for which you have FTP access and which runs a web browser.  The public_html/2004 in the example represents two directories on the server.  The path represents two more directories within them.

MC will create one level of directories, but not more, if missing.  So in the example above, quebec would be created if missing, but not summer and quebec.

This may be one of those 'not as simple as it sounds requests' but being able to send the pics with the index page to a local drive would be a huge win in my opinion.

It really adresses three problems at once.  Backups, sharing and exportable slideshows.  

Including that index page would be a great way to backup so you could quicly see what is in the folder along with some text.

It's a great way to share a group of photos via multiple different methods: cd, email, etc.

And though it is not a true 'slideshow' it does address (halfway at least) being able to quickly group a bunch of pictures together and 'saving' them as a slideshow.

Not everyone has an FTP server and there are things that I don't care to have on the web.

Besides exporting to a local drive, the only thing that I would suggest is using the new captioning ability for Thumbnail views to be able to add better captions to the Index page.

Right now, you can't do that.  MC will build the page and upload it to an FTP server, but it won't save it locally.  Maybe later we'll add that.

Why are you trying to save locally, then upload when you could do both at once?  I must be missing something.

I don't have to upload; we have our own server. I run apache and anything in my local c:\htdocs folder is what goes on the air!

If it has an FTP server running, you should be able to connect to it.

Heres my less technical answer to that question - because Id like to tweak the created html before upload. My web skills are pretty useless but I can make small changes to suit the style of my website.

Maybe later we'll add that.

Until it's added, you could use FileZilla Server (free) to "upload" to your local drive.
