DVD playback problem: no video
« on: July 18, 2004, 08:43:47 am »

Hi, I have a problem with DVD playback in version 10.0.149

I hear the sound (installed the ac3 decoder), but have no video. I have cyberlink powerdvd installed and that workd fine.

Waht should I check or do to fix my problem?

Did you click on "Playing Now" in the tree?  The View menu also lets you go to Full Screen view.  Could that be the problem?

Internal, Windowed, Full Screen all gives me the smaen thing: I hear the sound, but see a black area where I'd expect the video to play.

Flix,

Are you using a duel monitor setup?

What graphic card do you have. I hade the same problem with an ATI 9800 Radeon and it was down to the overlay settings being set wrong.

Do the DVD's play OK in Windows Media Player?

I haven't tried Windows Media Player yet. I will try tonight.

Yes, I have a Matrox Millenium G550 with two monitors attached.

I'll try to do change the overlay settings (if you can tell me where to look in windows to change it, and what to change :) )

Windows Media doesn't play the DVD's either.

What can I try next to get this stuff working?

Try installing the software that came with your DVD drive.
