AAC encoder - which external to use?

So for v10 we need to still use external encoder. If we have quicktime installed is there anyway of using the one from iTUNES?

If you are referring to transcoding to AAC, this is not provided as part of MC. Having Quicktime installed does not change this.

Well, if you're going from CDs (as opposed to transcoding), it can be done.  You need the Pro version of QT (costs $30), and a program called AutoIt.  Search around the HydrogenAudio forums for some scripts that can be used to automate the process.  With some tweaks they can be linked into MC, so you can rip from a CD right into AAC.  It's a bit of a hack, but it seems to work.

Also, this seems to be the only way you can get Replay Gain and the other bits under Analyze Audio into an AAC file, since it looks like MC does it on the raw file before it goes to the compressor.

Can you be more specific on how to use the Quicktime encoder ($30) to work with MC's analyze audio and replay gain functions.

I am starting to use dbpoweramp to convert from ape to m4a, but I don't think the replay gain settings carry through.  Any pointers?

From what I've seen, it only works when you're ripping from CD -> AAC/M4A directly.  I'm guessing that MC runs an "Analyze Audio" command right there.

Not natively, but check the boards of ways to do this with 3rd party plugins.
