Server Issues....
« on: September 06, 2004, 03:59:04 pm »

I spent hours yesterday to update all my MP3 files which are located on a server (network). When I imported the files today into MC, most files that MC imports are dated. Does this mean MC is not synchron with my server or vice versa? Anybody got some ideas?

It's hard to know what you're asking.  Are you running Media Server?  If so, it is read only.  No changes are written back.

What version of Media Center are you running?

I use MC 10.0.155. I am referring to the fact that I import my media files from a windows server on my network. I did not mean that I am running MC as a media server.

Then what is the problem exactly?

What do you mean by:

most files that MC imports are dated

I mean that I went through all my album files on my HD (which is located on a windows server) and I assigned specific songs to newly added albums. Afer that I imported these files to MC but MC only imports them as they were before my changes???....!!!

I'm not sure to understand but if you mean that you've made changes in your file's tags, you can update the database MC have.
Just select the files that have changes in it (if it's a pain to do so, simply select all files in your library) and do :

Tools / Library Tools / Update Library form tags

If you're really talking about changing tags information in files, try to use MC, it will be really simpler. (check MC's help on "Edit File Properties (tags)").
