iPod Sync - files deleted then reloaded...
« on: August 31, 2004, 12:20:08 am »

This didn't happen in version 9 so I'm hoping somebody can tell me what's going on here.

I load the iPod playlist for transfer. Synch. Synch again to be sure.
Then listen to the iPod - rating songs etc. Then when I synch later - what seems to be a random selection of about 10 MB of files the synch process deletes and then re-uploads.

What gives?

Oh - I do attach the iPod to the PC at waork and from time to time I'll rate stuff in iTunes there.

Couch, try the portable device board:

there is lots of ipod stuff in there, and some might be of use to help with your problem.   Bet  :)

Couch,

My best guess is that you are seeing a warning about duplicate files. If this is the case, the problem is that you have multiple files with the same 'Name, Artist, Album, Genre and Track Number'.  MC 10 uses this data to determine which files to send and delete. If you have duplicate information, MC guesses and that would account for the resend of files. Make this data unique for all your files and the problem should go away. MC should tell you which files are the problems.
