I assume you're burning an audio CD. If so, check the location of the "temporary file location" (tools/options/file naming & location). Make sure this is a valid location and that the drive listed has a lot of free space (at least 1 GB).
Usually, on the "cd writer settings" page, if you have "normalize before encoding" unchecked and "decode files directly to CD" checked, MJ won't create any temporary files if you're burning mp3 (or wave) format files.
What version of MJ are you running?

Sorted! The temp directory specified by MJ in one of the setting pages didn't actually exist... once created all went fine... even with XP.

Thanks!

Glad you got the problem fixed. To prevent future problems with this issue, could you tell us what version of MJ you're running (or post system info from the help menu in MJ)?
All recent versions should create the temp directory if it doesn't exist. Was the previous temp directory set to "C:\music\temp"?

Thanks.

Here's all the info:

Media Jukebox  8.0.388
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 1694 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 392 MB, Free - 266 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1 Service Pack 1 (Build 2600)

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2800.1106
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
wnaspi32.dll: Internal ASPI Layer

and I needed to go into settings/options/filenaming and location  to find the name of the temp foldder... which was c:\music\temp.... but can be changed to whatever you want from there!
