Whatever happened to the request for 'Stop...'
« on: October 15, 2002, 06:24:49 pm »

Whatever happend to the request for 'Stop at end of current song'?  There was discussion about it being either a command to put on the Playing Now list or an optional action for the Player Stop Button.

This would allow the player to finish the currently playing song and stop without starting the crossfade into the next track.  This would make a great way to stop playback for making unplanned announcements and then resume where left off.

For a DJ or party host, a good action would be to right click on the Stop button, select 'Stop at end of current track'; MJ would then wait for current song to finish, stop playback without  buffering the next track, advance to the next track without playing it.  That would leave MJ ready to resume the playlist by hitting the Play button.

(Winamp 2.x has this)

Or maybe just automatically stop whenever the user tries to play any .

I agree with the recommendation.  Would also like to see the Next and Previous buttons behavior revisited.

Better yet, a dialog box that prompts " encountered, would you like to delete file and check for further viruses?"

Yeah I could tell that.

I started listening to Country when Rap became popular.

So, any answer to the original question?

The version 9 thread is the place to discuss anything new like this.

And "Stop after current track" and lasting ALT playback modes are both on the white board somewhere...

OK, but the top of this forum says:

Media Jukebox discussion, problems, ideas, adoration.....

And the MJ9 Preview post says:
Quote
IMPORTANT-- This is only a preview -- some things don't work, some things crash, and your data may not be safe. Don't use this preview with files that can't be replaced. If you don't consider yourself an expert with Media Jukebox, please wait for a later release. Backup your database (and files) before doing anything else.

which is scary enough to keep me away for awhile.

So my question is:  Is it OK to post "new things" to the MJ9 forum, even if we're not using the MJ9 beta?

Sure.  We may even read them.
