I am using media editor to cut out a section of a song. when i "save as" i get an unexpected error and the program shutsdown, a temporary file remains in the save location and is unaccesable.

I am using the trial version on windows XP sp2.

any ideas???

What version of MJ?  

Try saving as a wav file and converting later.  You may not have the right encoder installed.

It is 8.0.400. Downloaded it today from the web site. Really like the interface for the editor. i have quite a few MP3's that i want to cut some junk out of and this is by far the easiest/nicest product to use. wanted to get the full licensed version, but dont want to waste my money if it doesnt work.

I can save it is a .wav, make the changes, but when i try to save back to mp3 it fails.

the file is 10 meg's - is there a size limit? i have tried a smaller file but the same thing happens.

i have tried to reinstall MJ but the same issue occours.

what encoder do i need and where do i check for this???

There is no size limit.

Try converting with MJ, not with the editor.

thanks it downloaded the encoder dll and that now works - except that it is now playing at double speed.

where/how do i set it at normal pace?

where can i set the output speed. when i save the edited version it plays at double the normal pace.

I opened media editor, edited the track by cutting certain sections out and saving the file as a wav file. It turned a 10 meg file into 153 meg, but hey thats wav.

I then used media player to open the wav file and play it. The cuts/edits i made to the track worked and the song plays perfectly.

At this point i used the "file convert" function in media jukebox. There are 3 opptions to save as MP3 but one is for an external encoder so haven't used that one. I tried the remaining two options at different bit rates, 800, 40 and custom. the wave file is set at 42/44.
It encodes and save the file as an MP3 as planned, however, when i open the file and play it, it runs at high speed - I.E. It sounds like he has his bollocks in a vice and is speaking very fast.

any ideas please?

I think you're starting with a compressed wav file and that's the problem.  Where did the file come from?

It was downloaded from the internet in an mp3 format. and then edited, then saved back to MP3 (via MJ). the wav file plays fine, only when saved to MP3 does it play fast

Where can I check the compression of this? can MJ uncompress or save/change the compression rate?

I have also checked on another mp3, taken from my cd with the same result

Try saving the MP3 as 128Kbps or VBR.
