Failed Opening License file

I tried to purchase version 9

I was using version 8 with a license for version 7.

I downloaded version 9 today (11-3-02)

When I tried to purchase, after it charged my credit card, I got the error message:

"Error installing Media Jkjebox license. Failed opening license file."

I tried using your Restore web page and got the same error.

Please credit my credit card immediately for the purchase.

When you get the problem fixed, I will consider purchasing.

Please try the FAQ under jukebox/purchase above.  It could be a browser problem.  IE will work.

Make sure your date is set correctly.

There is nothing "above" that I can check.

Is there a link?

My PC's date and time are correct. Sunday Nov. 3; 4:18PM

Perhaps it's your server that has the wrong date.

Best to refund my credit card purchase until you fix the problem.

Is it Windows 2000?  We had a report from someone a day or two ago who had the same OS but said it was WinXP.

Are you using IE?

Do you have a firewall?

Are you using a proxy server?

Can you connect to this page?

What do you see?

Some virus checkers are overly aggressive about registry changes.

There are a lot of places that could be a problem.  More detail would help.

I see the Thawte Authentic Site graphic.

The 3Com wireless hub I use has a firewall.

I did not have any problems ith versions 7.0 and 8.0 and the registration for them.

Perhaps it's best to credit my credit card and when you get the product finished, I'll try again.

Also, I changed last weekend the tuner card from ATI to a Haupaugge USP PVR model.

Their software works but I cannot get your software to work with it.  When I had the ATI PC card, it did work.

Any suggestions for that?

All the Hauppauge cards I've tried, including USB, have worked.  It's possible that one doesn't.

The problem you're having with registration is almost certainly not with MJ, but with something on your PC preventing writing to the registry.

What happens if you click on the install key?  Not the registration key, but the install key?

I have un-installed version 9 and re-installed version 8

What is it you want me to do?

I use Norton antivirus version 7.5 and have since I bought the PC May 2001.

Version's 7 and 8 worked with Norton without a problem.

Tell me what you want me to do.

Try disabling Norton and anything else you think could be interfering with writing to the registry.  Double click on the install key.  It won't use a restore, so you can do that as much as you want.

I'm a little confused. You purchased a beta version of the program today - sunday - and because you found problems you want a credit back?

1 - version 9 is a beta. This may or may not have anything to do with your problem, but it is a beta.

2 - it is sunday. You have several responses already (especially given that it is a beta). Can you really not wait until monday when more people are available?

I spent about 4 hours Sunday trying to get the program to work.

I think that is a sufficient amount of time to have wasted on this.

In addition this method of support is very inefficient for your customers. I have to sit and wait for a response, not knowing when or if you'll respond.

Please refund my payment by crediting it back to my credit card and confirm that you have done so.
