File Move in Media Library
« on: November 01, 2002, 06:37:06 pm »

Hi all,

I am attempting a conceptually simple operation.
I had some mis-(un)classified CDs, they were ripped as "Unknown Genre". I updated their tag info so they appear correctly in the "genre" views. But the album files are still in the "Unknown Genre" subdirectory.

Attempts to move the "unclassified" artist subdirectories out of "Unknown Genre" and into another Genre-subfolder using the media Library File Location view yields the following message:

"This operation can not be completed because the desired action is ambiguous or not possible."

It's clearly not ambiguous - so why is it not possible?

Thoughts? Guidance?

Thx

After this operation, did you try "Files > Library > Update Library" ?

Just a tought,

Yves.

I usually resort to simply moving files with the Windows file explorer.  And, then I (1) have MJ "import media" (which finds the "new" files) ... (2) update the library, for deleting entries for the "old" locations.

Granted ... it would be niftier if MJ could do all this at once ... but I haven't found the means yet.
