Makes iTunes stop updating iPod?
« on: September 27, 2004, 11:04:47 am »

How can I make iTunes stop automatically updating my new iPod.  I want to use MC to manage it, but, iTunes keps automatically opening it and updating it.

Help.

In iTunes, click on the iPod in the task bar and under 'iPod Preferences' deselect the option for 'Open iTunes when attached'.

Thanks, I just found that.

However, I cannot figure out how to use MC with the iPod.  When I right-click on the iPod, I only get 2 options, neither of which allows for synching.

I did manage to see something in the AW (no idea why/how it appeared) that said something about synching playlists, which looked good, I clicked on it and it brought upa window to allow selection of playlists, but when I picked 3 playlists, it said I was 27gb over capacity.  I chose to allow it to convert when synching, I chose mp3 128 bit.  it still said I was over capacity.  I clicked on options and MC crashed. (3 times in a row)

Is there some way to just delete every file on the iPod (that iTunes installed) and just plain start over with only MC (now that I know how to turn off the iTunes autosynch)?

thanks

Justin,

What version of MC do you have?

If 11, get tonight's build and then right click on the iPod drive letter and select 'Intitialize iPod' . This will delete everything from your iPod and reset it so you are ready to start over.  What you describe as your problem should go away after you do this.

I have 11.0 90 now.

I'll try again tonight after the new version is available.

Thanks.
