OT - Do the codec alternatives work well?
« on: October 26, 2004, 05:28:32 am »

Ive installed Real Alternative on my system and about to install QuickTime Alternative as well. Im curious to know if anyone else has had any issues out of these alternative codecs.

I've yet to have any issues with the Real Alternative, however, I rarely come across anything that uses Real encoding. The QuickTime Alternative I am a bit worried about as I am not sure if programs like Macromedia Flash and other authoring tools that require some elements of QuickTime will still work with the alternative in the same way it works with the original version.

If anyone has any input, please post.

I never use Quciktime, so can't say.
But for real media, why not get their Enterprise client?
It does not have ads, does not take over your system, etc, etc. Very nice. And, it's free.
