Can we write Theatre View plugins yet?
« on: October 26, 2004, 03:47:18 am »

Hi,

I really want to make a start on some plugin ideas for Theatre View. Is this implemented yet? If so, where can I find the documentation?

If this is not being done yet then I would recommend that you make Theatre View highly customizable. There are some great plugins for the other big HTPC candidates out there (TV guides, Mame, CD ripping and burning, Portable download etc etc.)

Please help us to help your product increase it's usefullness.

Thanks

I am not really sure exactly what you can do, but there are 2 others that have made plugins for theatre view.

Check the third Party Plug in board...

It seems that the two plugins are actually just Track Displays which aren't directly linked to Theatre View.

Anyone?

In version 11, you can add a button to the screen.   TV Guide, for example.  It can then link to a program or to a web address.

Try a search for "weather" to find out more.

I believe this is only working in one skin at this time.  Hairstyle, I think.

It's certainly a start, but if, for example, I want to create a MAME frontend for Theatre View I will have to write the whole frontend/control myself and make it look like Theatre View.
I'm also going to have to either write in IRman support for my app or use Girder.

It would be nice if we could at least have the ability to create custom buttons/layouts that we can populate and will be part of MC (along with navigation) and not open a new window/app.

I'm guessing I may have a problem if TV is set to 'keep focus' as well.

Could this plugin support be added to MC11. You wont regret the extra stuff people would add in!

Regards
