Ripping Shortcuts
« on: October 30, 2002, 05:50:11 pm »

While I’m reloading OS and applications to resolve an issue, question:  Is there a material difference in the time it takes to rip a CD while using a 32x read-R drive verses a 56x read-R drive?    This question is with consideration of my configuration below.  Also, using the speed indicator on the MJ rip panel, what are others experiencing during ripping (2x, 1.5x, ect.)?

I don't think u would see much difference. The encoding process becomes a bottleneck, since with MJ rip & encode is simultaineous. 20 or so builds back (maybe further) MJ would rip all tracks then encode. Even then with the drive speeds you mentioned, time savings would be marginal. I use EAC for ripping/encoding (about 4x for rip alone).

1 GB of memory? Wow!.....Cool!
