TheaterView and screensavers
« on: November 17, 2004, 01:31:13 am »

I have just installed MC v11 on a laptop and got it working nicely with my main PC via Library Server. :D

I have it running TheaterView by default and noticed that in this mode the screensaver never kicks in. I can see this being useful for full-screen display when playing, but surely it shouldn't be on for TheaterView when 'idle'? Even the power-saving screen-off doesn't work, which is going to kill the laptop if it is ever running off batteries.

Secondly, now that View settings are stored in the Library, would it be possible for a 'client' MC to take the view settings from the 'server' so that i only have to set them up once and all the MCs in my house can look the same?

Cheers.....

I thought that screensaver problem was just me.  I have the same setup and the same problem.

Anyone know the answer?

I could be wrong, but I thought that the Screensaver disabling function was optional and could be disabled in the Preferences.  Check Tools --> Options ...

I don't think that this is the way it is, but its a darn darn (oops sorry) good idea (so long as it too is optional -- someone may want to have different machines use different display settings).

I couldn't find that option, is there an official word on the problem?

Thanks....

Hmmm.  I know it used to be there, but you're right it's not anymore.  I think they may have renamed it.  Try:

Tools --> Options:

Tree and View --> Theater View Options. Uncheck "Keep Focus (recommended)".  That might be it.

Certainly sounds like it might.... but sadly it doesn't.

Could i raise this as a "would like to have" to the powers-that be?

Cheers....

The screensaver should kick in for Theater View, so it sounds like a bug.

We'll take a look.  Please remind us in the build thread if it isn't fixed in a few builds.

Thanks!

 Yep.  Still broke.  ;)

Skins other than "HairStyle" also still not working.

I know I know, it's Beta, be patient . . . just a gentle reminder.
