How may I use a mask to rename files?
« on: July 11, 2003, 07:21:48 pm »

I want to use Media Jukebox to rename and re-folder a set of files based on their ID3 tags.

For example, I have a set of mp3 files named "file1.mp3", "file2.mp3", "file3.mp3", etc.  The id3 tags of these files specify song names, artist names, track numbers, and several different album names.  The files are included in my Media Jukebox library.

I want Media Jukebox to rename and sort into folders, the files,  per the following mask:

\<album>\<track number> - <song name>.mp3

I see that file names can be automatically assigned like this when importing a CD, but I want to apply a mask to EXISTING files.

CAN MEDIA JUKEBOX DO THIS?  HOW?

Thank you for your prompt reply.

From the author of this topic:

I have discovered the answer to my own question:

Step 1:  Open the "Media File Properties Dialogue" for the set of files to be renamed.

Step 2:  "Tools" menu/"Rename files from properties"
