Question re: Library Server
« on: December 03, 2004, 05:39:09 pm »

My main library is pretty big (21K+ of songs) and when I hook up to it via Library Server, there is a significant wait as it loads the library.

I'm thinking of using MC also for my photo collection, but I hesitate to import all my photos in given the current wait via Library Server.

Am I correct in assuming that adding photos (~5-6K) will increase the size of my library file? If it won't, I'll import them in my existing library, but if they will add to the overall size, then I think I'll create a new library to import them into.

BTW, I have never seen a "create library" or "new library" command anywhere. How does one create a new library?

Thanks.

File>Library>Library Manager>'add' button.

The image files themselves are not in the library so it will not grow by the size of the images.  It will grow a small amount (the amount of the tag fields in the database.

Thanks. Question about "add" -- it asks for a location (and gives no default) -- if I go hunting and find the location of my current library file, it tells me there is already a library there. So where do I put it? Does it matter/have implications?

Use a new directory for the new library.
