Disc # handling for iPod
« on: December 22, 2004, 07:48:48 pm »

OK, I love that Disc #s are a part of MC 11, although I now realize I just could have created my own field in version 10. Oh well.

So I've started converting some of my multi-disc CDs the following way:

[Album Artist (auto)]\[Album]\[Disc #]-[Track #] [Name]

This seems to replicate what iTunes does. The reasons why I want to do this are two fold. One: I have an iPod. Two: I hate having (disc #) in the album name field.  Now, when I rename my files with the above paramiters, things work fine unless there is no Disc #. I can work around that. Now to my problem.

When I transfer files to my iPod, in the album for multi-disc sets are not in order. They are listed by track number only, not disc number. For example: 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3 instead of 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3. Is there a way to get my tracks in order without resorting to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6? How does iTunes handle this problem?

Thanks in advance.
