Can anyone help me set up my system so I can record what I hear on my speakers with MC.

I've read most of the posts, have my recorder set to what you hear but can't get a thing. I had it set up on a different computer with MJ okay but can't seem to get it to work on my new system.

In order to record sound that comes through the speakers you have to have two parts working. First, Windows needs to have "What U Hear" selected (Windows 2000 and above, not sure on earlier versions). Second you need to have media center listening to the right source.

Setup Windows:
1. Right-click and open or double-click the speaker icon on the system tray to get the full view.
2. Then go to options and select properties.
3. Change to Recording and make sure "What U Hear" is checked. Then click OK.
4. Next you have to make sure it is selected as the source. Unlike playing, recording only allows one source, so check "What U Hear".
5. Click Ok

Setup Media Center:
1. Load media center
2. Go to Tools > Advanced Tools > Record Sound
3. Select Options
4. Select Recorder
5. Set the recording source to Mixer

Now you should be able to record anything you hear through your speakers. This is the exact way I setup my system to record. Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the Help. I was able to solve the problem as my grandson says
"all by myself" before I read your post but hope this may help others to get the recording part of mc going.
