What Is The Best Method For Updating?
« on: January 10, 2005, 04:04:43 pm »

What is the best method for updating media center from one release to the next (i.e. 11.0.123 to 11.0.124)? Should I install over top of the first install or should I run the uninstaller and remove all registry entries (but keep the library files) and then run the new installer? Is one of these methods better while in the beta testing stages while different for post beta testing? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Just install new on top of old.  No need to uninstall generally.  (There are exceptions, though. :P)

Always backup the library somewhere safe in any case.

I uninstall the previous (but keep the library).

Then install the new one. I dont do a custom install so its pretty much dbl click installer till its done.

Its good practice to backup the library to a different partition than the one MC is installed.
