MC11.168 doesn't differentiate which device is which when configuring devices using DirectSound. When using Wave Output any similar devices show up as "Device" and "Device (2)".
In the case of my creative USB cards those are listed as "USB Sound" and "USB Sound (2)" but only when using the Wave Output option. If DirectSound is used the devices are all shown with the same name; "USB Sound". Thus it seems MC can't properly determine that it needs to use the second of the two devices and everything ends up dumped out the first one. I don't seem to recall having this problem on MC11.162.
I have confirmed that when using Wave Out it properly reuses the right devices when stop/reboot/restart MC11. DirectSound does not.
What, if any, issues are involved with using one form of output over another? What situation would have a problem using Wave Out that DirectSound would be required?
