Since MC110174 to 110177 close itself after connecting iHP-140
« on: January 17, 2005, 07:19:32 am »

Since MC110174 to 110177 after I have connected my iRiver iHP-140 (H-140 is the new name), if I click in Drives & Devices\iHP-140 in MC's tree, the program closes itself every time. So I have to restart MC, but the issue continues in the same way. I have downgraded MC to 110168 to synchronize my iRiver.

Greetings Stefano,

I cannot easily explain this. I do not have a 140 to try to duplicate this, but with devices that should respond the same, I cannot duplicate what you describe.

Are there any warnings or errors?

Is your 140 behaving well if you access it with WMP or if you click on it in Windows Explorer?

Steve,
GHammer and I both reported this in the MC forum. See messages:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=25557.msg177521#msg177521
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=25557.msg177456#msg177456

GHammes uses a folder as portable, I have Archos JBM20 and iRiver H320 players.
My devices all behave perfectly normal in Windows Explorer. In MC 11.0168 this error does not occur.

I do not know if a iRiver H140 (or H120) works with WMP. My H320 is not, because it is not WMDM-compatible (the US-version is different).

plopje,

I saw GHammer and your post and made changes that will probably make this go away. Please recheck it in the next version.

Thanks,

Greetings to you, Steve!

My H-140 behave very well in Explorer and with MC 11.0168.
MC11.0174 & 11.0177 close themselves remaining in systemtray without errors or warning.
H-140 doesn't work in WMP or seems so... I hate WMP  8)

If the next MC versions work, I'll make you a whistle

Thanks,

Stefano,

The fact that the H-140 misbehaves with WMP gives me hope that the changes I made in 178 will resolve this for a variety of reasons. Please let me know how it turns out. I cannot verify it here as I have no H -140.

Thanks.

Infact 178 resolved the crash issue, but deleted too all my playlists on my device :'(.

MC 178 deleted all playlists even if I have unselected 'Synchronize all files' and selected only 1 MC's playlist to sinchronize to H-140.

After synchronization I've lost all other playlists on the device, and what is also worse, H-140 doesn't read the new playlist giving an error! Surely for that new dot that is added at the files address in the last MC 174, 177, 178.
Infact using 168 all works fine.

Stefano,

Whenever you sync, MC removes all playlists from the device and then readds all the playlists.

For example, if you have 3 playlists with 10 files each and you sync them, at the end of the sync you will have 30 files on your device and three playlists. If you resync with only one plalylist checked and you do not have 'Delete unselected files' checked, you will have 30 files on the device and 1 playlist. A resync with 3 playlists checked will put all  3 playlists back. In all of these steps, after the first one, no files are transferred or deleted.

In regards to the './' m3u format, can you confirm that if you change the path the playlist is playable? If so, I will have to change the code from my presumption that all devices could handle the './' path.

Thanks,

Steve,

now I've understood the new MC sync, even if I prefer much more the previous 168 sync that gets only checked playlists and doesn't delete unchecked.

Yes, I can.

Infact, if I change from i.e.:

.\01.Kalinka.ogg
.\02.Partisan's Song.ogg
.\03.Souliko.ogg
.\04.Korobelniki.ogg
.\05.On the Road.ogg
.\06.My Country.ogg

to:

\01.Kalinka.ogg
\02.Partisan's Song.ogg
\03.Souliko.ogg
\04.Korobelniki.ogg
\05.On the Road.ogg
\06.My Country.ogg

the playlist is playable  :P

Greetings

Stefano,

It appears that there is no standard way that devices handle this. I will make this configurable by device. In order to get this to work, could you please post for me the exact way that your device appears in the MC tree?

Thanks,

Stefano,

The next build of MC will include updates that should create the correct plalylist paths for this device. I am unable to verify this (as I do not have the device) so please let me know if it works or not.

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

I'm sorry to say that ".m3u file path" is not fixed for iRiver H-140.

The dot at the beginning of the path gets again an error and .m3u isn't playable.
If I cut it off, the playlist becomes readable.

Stefano,

Please email me the PDT.xml in your Media Center\Data\Default Resources folder file that installed with your last install. Or open the file and go to the bottom and look to see that you see "H-140" listed with a 'PlaylistFileBasePath' of '\'.

Thanks

Hello Steve,

have there been any progress on the "./" thing. I experience the same issue with 11.0.193 on my iHP140.

Thank you!

Hi Steve!

Yes some progress are done even if the problem is always present and to fix it I should have to cut off the dot before the slash.
Anyhow now MC recognises the playlists in H-140 like files sequence and it's possible play them. But MC changes the original sequence  and orders always the songs by Artist.

No more warning during synchro.

Thanks

Stebajo and Alex_B,

Can you get 196, transfer a playlist to the 140 and then post what the file paths on the m3u look like?

Thanks,

Hello Steve.

I've gotten 196, transferred one and more playlists to the H-140.
The files paths on the m3u look to point to the H-140 root.

i.e.

I get the usual error trying to play it on H-140 and to fix it I should have to cut off the dot before the slash.

The files sequence in the playlist is  like original, but when MC plays these paths "./" orders always the songs by Artist.

Thanks

Stebajo,

The next build of MC should resolve the path issue.

Can you clarify this? How are you getting MC to play the playlist on your iRiver?

Hi Steve.

I'm happy that next build of MC will resolve the path issue.  :P

Can you clarify this? How are you getting MC to play the playlist on your iRiver?

Yes it's simple,
I open H-140 with its playlists and subfolders in MC's tree, one click on a playlist and I'll see its content, not in the right sequence but ordered by Artist(another issue of .\) in the right MC's window.
Double click on a song and the full bunch begins to play in 'Playing Now'.  ;D

Greetings

Stefano,

When you are looking at the contents of the playlist in MC is the view set to order the files by Artist?

Steve,

I've left the default order view... track#, album perhaps. I don't find how to change the order view like old MC versions.

On the other hand, if I'm looking at the contents of the MC's playlist, i.e. Lounge, the order of songs is right or like I wanted it. When I look at the same synchro playlist (Lounge) in MC from H-140, the order is changed by Artist, Track#.

I hope to have been clear..

Thanks
