Feature Request: Playing Now handles 2 Queues
« on: February 17, 2004, 06:31:23 am »

I'd like to see the following feature added to ver 10.

I usually set up a play list for a party.  However, during the party, I often get a BUNCH of requests for other songs.  I'd like to queue up all of the requests in the order I receive them.

The "Add to Playing Next" feature comes close to what I want, but these are Stacked (the last requested becomes the next to play and the first requested is the last to play) instead of Queued (the first request is next to play).

I've seen this feature in other products.  In the other product there are 2 lists kept.  The "regular list" plays in a predetermined order if the "request list" is empty.  Otherwise, the songs in the "request list" play.

Thanks for your consideration.  (Sorry if this is a duplicate request).

Can we try to get this feature in version 11?  Thanks in advance.

Yes, would be a nice feature.
But how can it be done? Have an option to put the file behind the playing file AND behind all newly added files AND before all files that were there from beginning? Sounds nearly impossible... also I'm not sure, if it would be easy to handle.
But, I agree, would be nice  ;D

No, I think the way you do it is based on the way he described it.

In addition to "Playing Now" you have a second list "Requests" (or whatever).  Then, when the software is looking to play the next track it looks in "Requests" first.  If there is a file queued, it is played and removed from the queue.  If there is no file in "Requests" it chooses from the "Playing Now" list as normal.  You do that every time and you should get the behaviour that he described.

Of course, that assumes I'm understanding rtguy7 correctly.

Another vote for this request.  Would make jam sessions with friends a lot easier - a lot less messing with the darn computer and more listening ...
