iPod plug in won't install with MC 11 beta
« on: March 12, 2005, 03:53:55 pm »

I have just installed the lastest MC 11 beta version this morning and paid my $10.
I chose to uninstall MC 10 (which I am now realising was an error). MC11 did not pick up my old library and play lists, but luckily I had library file backups which MC11 imported.

First it recognized my ipod as a handheld. I initialized it. But then it said I didn't have enough space to synch (-11GB in when I have 20GB in fact)

Then I checked and it didn't have the ipod plugin. So I downloaded and installed the plugin - several times.   However, it won't function with my iPod!!!

It recognises the iPod but says the plugin isn't installed, no matter how many times I download the plugin and install it.

Now I have an empty iPod

maybe due to MC11 has a dif registry location

Maybe they were contacted by apple so they had to remove support for the Ipod?

The iPod doesn't require a plug-in with MC11.  It's part of the basic install.

Please take a look at some of the other threads here on the Portable Devices board.

Really,

Now I just get a message when I connect the iPod: "plugin not installed."

What have I screwed up, then, if a plug-in ins't required?

Also, why did MC 11 think I would need an extra 11 gb on a 20gb iPod for a total library of only 15gb?

Any ideas?
Thanks

I reverted back to MC 10 (lastest download)

Everything works fine.

If anyone has any ideas about my problems with MC11 and my iPod, let me know... I would like to try again

I would also like to know where to find a plug-in for MC10 for iPod. My iPod mini 6GB is not currently recognized by MC10.

thanks,

njkyle,

Reinstall MC 11 and everything you need will be there for iPod.  Your initial problem of 'Not Enough Space to Sync' could have been attributed to your trying to sync more files than the 20GB your iPod allows. <- I am just venturing a guess.

Osho,

For a plugin for MC 10, either reinstall the latest version of MC10, or try the following link for the Portable Drive Plugin ...
