Media Center 11.0.196 Beta Available
« on: February 18, 2005, 05:21:55 pm »

We're still working on Media Center 11.  We appreciate your feedback on it, but MC11 may not work as expected and we can't yet fully support it.  Some plugins still do not work.

We recommend that you use MC10 below, but if you want to use MC 11 while we're building it, PRICES are here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=23311

If you want a more trouble-free experience, please download Media Center 10 here:
http://www.jrmediacenter.com/download.html

Media Center 11 is available here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter110196.exe

Enhanced album grouping for pictures so pictures taken together get grouped without any user intervention
Preview mode to only play the intro of songs
Video CD playback support
Audio resampling uses Shibatch's high-quality SSRC filters
Support for ATI HDTV card

Though I've got Lunchbox and CD Baby back.

I still have the same problem:

since the last couple of release I can't play a smartlist anymore in netremote (via RemoteServer.dll)
playing something in the media library works fine (as long as 'show in theatre view' is checked) :

LX "PLAY" "Media Library\Audio\Artist/Album\U2" "-1"

but playing a smartlist stopped working recently :

LX "PLAY" "Playlists\Auto Smartlists (music)\Random -- one hour" "-1"

also, If I do :

Set MJPlaylists = myMJ.GetPlaylists
MJPlaylists.GetNumberPlaylists

via the COM interface, I see 0

I tried to use the disc# field like so

album xxxx disc# 1  track 1
album xxxx disc# 1  track 2
album xxxx disc# 1  track 3
...
album xxxx disc# 2  track 1
album xxxx disc# 2  track 2
album xxxx disc# 2  track 3
...

the complete album flag is 0 even though both discs are complete...

*CUE FILE ISSUES*

- MC complains it can't tag CUE tracks when update tags on file changes is ticked. It is preferrable that it not complain about this like with WAV or video files.

- If fix or remove broken links is ticked in the Import/Update dialog,  *ALL* previously imported CUE tracks are LOST !!!

- If an album with imported+analysed CUE tracks is moved (within MC) after import MC loses the address of those imported CUE tracks. The big file the CUE tracks are associated with is not lost.

I have the same problem. When I start TV and click a channel to watch or choose Options, Media Center locks up (Hauppauge PVR350). In Build 11.0.193 it worked alright. The problem is caused by the file MJTVControl.dll

Where can I find the option "7. New: One can choose to sort TV channels by either channel number or station name."?

1. Status bar text is still centering itself regardless of the commands in any skin's XML file.

2. MC is still causing a crash after close when using the "Girder" keyboard.dll plugin as a remote control.

Both of these issues are still happening after a full reformat last week and reinstallation of all software.

Here's a wierd one...

I rip new tunes and enter Bio information in the Bio tag (along with all the other tags).

Then I move the files to where I want to store them on my HD and run a manual import from MC.

The Bio information is now in the "Comment" tag, not in the "Bio" tag.

I have to cut it out of the comment field and copy it back to the bio field.

In this build when I burn an Audio CD and click Show List, it doesn't display any of the files being burned until I hit "Show Files in Subfolders" even though the audio cd (obviously) doesn't have any subfolders and even though MC lists it as such.

Other than that, I really like this new change.  Accessing the optical drives is MUCH more responsive, especially with a whole DVD-R full of files.

Back navigation shortcuts (backspace, Alt-Left, etc.) lead you to the previous display but at the top of it instead of at the very point you were at. This happens with Library Browser too.

Where can I find the option "7. New: One can choose to sort TV channels by either channel number or station name."?

After I figure out what caused the lock up, you will be able find this one easily  :). It works fine on my computer with Hauppauge PVR 350. So the lock up is a little weird ...

The sorting option is on the "TV Channels" property page - the first thing you see when you click Options. You sort by clicking the appropriate headings on the channels list (there are only two of them  ;)).

Frequent crashes continue to occur, mostly caused by:

- Deleting files

- Removing orphaned files

- Sorting lists

Gee, you seem to have forgotten to post additional details.
Like, your system info from Help->System Info
Maybe tell if you have anything like InCD.
If you have any devices, like a Palm, a handheld, etc.

Perhaps then someone would have a fighting chance to help.

WOW!  I didn't realize that I would have to tell you my Kids' names just to log a bug (that has been reported before).   But, here goes:

I use MS Office, I use Excel a lot ... I like the VLOOKUP Function, I have 2 cats, and I have 3 routers ... I do have Nero & Roxio installed, but I'm not familiar with any InCD.  Only devices are 2 DVDs and 4 card readers (CF, etc).  Now, more seriously, here is the dump from MC.

I use MC for audio only (at this time) and I have it stay in its audio mode.

After ripping a CD the tree jumps to the Audio node and displays a recently imported *ripped list. Also, I noticed that there is, by default, a recently imported *ripped playlist in the playlist node.

Would it be possilble to have the tree jump to there instead of audio? Especially since there isn't a recently imported *ripped subnode under audio; just seems not logical in its current state.

Thank you JRiver for all your hard work!

I just built a new system and when I imported my music into a fresh install of Media Center I had some weird results.  Never had this happen before when importing on my old system.  On many of my albums MC imported them as multiple artists and in the artist field has the album name instead.  I have attached a pic to make it clear.

Two problems and one question here:

1)
When I open a playlist this list appears in the right pane. That pane is divided in two in version 11: playlist info up and playlist-listing down. So far so good. However when I open it the first three titles of my playlist are always hidden - the first one that I see in the lower section is no. 4. I have to scroll up to see the first item.

2)
How can I adjust the behaviour of this view? As far as I can see it only shows a dozen or two of the covers that are in the playlist that's opened.

3)
When I start playing a song from the internet MC plays it, but when this song is done MC continues playing the first song of Playing Now, even when i.e. the second song was paused before I started that internet-song.
In my opinion the only thing MC has got to do is playing that internet-song and then return to the state MC was in before playing that song.

When you take a 15 Min MP3 and load it in Media Editor, And Cut lets Say 5 mins off of it, then cut and past the file name into it when your saving because it does not remember the file name of where it came from, and you save it, Media Center Does Not Change The Play Time To The Correct Duration.

Since the latest build i cannot write onto CDs.
The error output is: "can't start the write !" .
to bad that this is just such a simple dialog,
which realy doenst give any information about the error causing this
this only accurs on audio files in combination with a cue file
and with "mixes" the track gets cut of after 2 or 4 minutes.

BUG:

Please, reload the cover art image at every visualisation change (track info, cover art, 2D & 3D viz). Whenever you move out of the G-Force viz. the current cover art gets lost and is not displayed any longer. We get the default MC icon instead. Obviously G-Force cannot do anything to keep the current cover art in memory.

If a move/copy disk procedure fails because the source is the same or a track is currently playing, the message still pops up asking if the folder should be removed.

... Media Center Will Not Allow Me To Paste The Complete Beatles BIOS

But almost. This is what MC accepts:

Paragraphs 36
Words 4866
Characters 25022
Characters (with spaces) 29860

This is what the original text has:

Paragraphs 37
Words 5079
Characters 26119
Characters (with spaces) 31160

So you hit the limit.

However, thanks for the link. I saved the text as a .txt file, imported it to the library and tagged it.
Now it comes up when The Beatles is searched. I don't need to save it with each Beatles track separately.
