MC10.0.173 does not show certain .wav-files
« on: March 05, 2005, 10:29:18 am »

Peculiar problem
Certain tracks from a set of .wav files are not listed by MC.
The wav-files are on my HD
I provided them with tag-info
When doubleclicking the files using Explorer, MC will launch and start to play the files.
When I click on tag-info all the data that I inserted is there.

In that specific directory there are 13 tracks, MC fails to show 3 out 13.
When I do import media, MC says 13 tracks are available, 0 imported.
(But still these 3 are missing).
When playing these tracks and click on update library from tag info, 3 files are added, 0
errors.

But still... these 3 files are not listed..

from another CD 1 out of 22 is missing

The files ARE on my HD's.

Anybody out there has any idea how to solve this.
(No filters/view scheme is set "all")

Thanks and regards,

(I am afread of clearing my library and re-read all the data, because I am not sure
what happens with all the tag-info -  i donot want to jeopardize all my work)

Forgot to add: if i browse, using MC to the specific directory, all files are shown, incl. all the tag info.  but as said, not when clicking only 'library'.

Wave files cannot store any tag information, at least with MC. There are some programs that save non-standard tags to wave files, but usually other programs cannot read those files.

The information you have is stored only in your MC library and perhaps some of it is included in your path/filename structure.

I don't know why your files don't show up as they should. I suspect a filename problem or corrupted files.

Thanks. Okay - then what I meant is that data is stored in the MC-library (artists, composer, album-name, etc.) I am not sure whether it is a corrupt file:MC plays the file upto the last
second.

As said: when 'browsing'(using MC) to the disklocation, the files are displayed correctly,
name, track#, etc.  Only when clicking library they are not displayed.
It seems to me that the file IS in fact in the MC-lib because MC does not add it as new file.
MC reports 13 titles available in its library, '0 added', which is correct for that specific
disklocation...

It is very curious indeed...  ?

They are extracted .flac-files (lossless) and if flac wud encounter a problem, it would not
extract the file but rahter skips it, in which case it should be repaired with usually added
.par files.

Have come to notice: the tracks that are having flwg filenames:
Arensky - Sari, Op 28 No 4, from 'Forgotten Rhythms'.wav
Borodin - Mazurka in C major, from 'Petit Suite'.wav

is it possible MC cannot handle such files?

I have removed the ' and did a media-import.
2 files were imported. but still they donot show up ...

I went on trying to find out what _might_ be wrong:
LibraryTools-Audio Analysis: no errors on the .wav-file

Converted the .wav to .mp3 (320), imported the .mp3 file (search media).
File added: still it does not show up when clicking on 'library'.

Is this a bug??
What else should I do ?
