Problem with Extended Edition CD's
« on: March 06, 2005, 02:16:11 pm »

Has anyone else run into the problem of extended edition cd's having some of the first tracks overwritten by later tracks with the same name.  I have tried selecting in options for tracks with the same name to not be overwritten, but MC keeps doing it.  I realise that you can just rename them before ripping, but I tend to rip in large batches 20+ and it is a pain to not notice that tracks were overwritten until the next day when you are looking over everything.  It seems to me that the option to not overwrite files with the same name is designed to prevent this, but for some reason it doesn't.

Could someone try to reproduce this, the best cd's are the deluxe editions, which tend to have live tracks at the end usually with the same names as the earlier tracks

Do you mean that two tracks on the same CD have the same name?

I set my CDs to rip with the filename format "Track # - Track Name" which gets around this problem.

Yeah yadb allows duplicate names in the same cd, so whoever tagged it just put the same name in twice.  Usually this will occur for rerelease albums, modest mouse - The moon and antarctica for example.  The rerelease contains about 4 or 5 alternate versions of some of the original album tracks.  So what happens is when the cd is ripping the orginals get overwritten with the alternate versions.
