She had a middling hit in 1996 'Criminal' from the album 'Tidal'

Extraordinary Machine is a very good album.  I just listened to the whole thing last night.  I'm a fan of her previous two albums (especially her 2nd, "When The Pawn...") and the new album definately fits as the next in her expanding talents.  It's good stuff and Sony needs to give it a chance.

I think "sleep to dream" off the same album (tidal) was a pretty big hit. She had that wonderful appearance at some award show where it looked like she'd had a bit too much to drink, and I haven't heard much about her since then until this. I hope the CD becomes commercially available somehow, I like her music a lot...

She had that wonderful appearance at some award show where it looked like she'd had a bit too much to drink

It was the MTV Video Music Awards show, and she was accepting an award for "Sleep to Dream".

She did look (and sound) like she'd had too much to drink (or inject) but what she actually said, if you filtered out the incoherence, actually made a lot of sense...
