I'm quite excited to see the advancements in MC11. I own and love MC10 for tag management, burning audio CDs, and editing MP3s. To describe my usage style, I find myself 'working through' 5-10 albums at a time, listening to songs, cleaning up tags, categorizing them, editing the files (setting new fades or cropping), converting bit rates, and then putting them into my repository. I then move on to another group of albums. In addition, I create mp3 or audio mixes from the songs in the repository.
I had a couple of feature requests. Hopefully they will not start any flame wars.
I would love it if features I use all the time were not several menu levels down. For ex. Import media. Can that be #2 under File instead of under file, library?
Also, I LOVE the 'last used' menu item which appears on the top of the right-click menu popup in Media Library. Can you expand this to allow the last 5 used menu items? Most of the features I use are in the Library Tools sub-menu (fill/rename properties, find/replace, clean file props), and it slows me down trying to get to them.
The idea of 'custom menus' based on frequent user activity sounds great to me.
I would also really appreciate better integration of the media editor. I'd like to right click one or more songs, and have the option to 'edit track'. Currently I have to open the editor application from tools, and again, a sub-menu, advanced tools. Then I need to locate and open the file.
I'd also love a slight update of media editor, including the following toolbar buttons: fade in, fade out, and insert silence. A 'customize toolbar' feature would do it. Also, the ability to right-click on a highlighted selection of a song to get a menu with zoom in, cut, insert silence, fade in or fade out would also be great.
Finally, I really appreciate the flexibility of 'edit view schemes'. I was hoping there was a way I could have a 'locations' view item where I could choose several folder locations on my drives/ networked computers. Navigating to them using the 'drives and devices' is tedious since they are 7-8 levels deep. The idea is I can flip between my repository and my 'working on' files quickly.
That's about it. Your forums look like there's a friendly and open dialog about the development of your great product. Hopefully this will be taken in the same spirit.
I look forward to V11.
