Failed To Initiate
« on: April 06, 2005, 02:22:27 pm »

I'm trying to buy Media Center by clicking "Buy Media Center..." in the help menu. Every time I try it gives me the error "Failed to Initiate Media Center Purchase". I've done a search through the forum here and have seen many threads asking for help on this. IE is set as my default browser, windows firewall is off, no other security settings are set any higher than medium, and I'm not behind a router. If anyone can give me a difinitive answer on this i'd appreciate it.

What version are you running?  Please try the latest if you don't have it.

I hate to double post, but is there any other way that I can purchase Media Center other than through the link in the help menu?

I don't know the answer to your question about other possibilities to buy it. JRiver should answer to it.

However, I would like to mention that obviously very soon MC11 will be the latest version and MC10 will be retaired. The upgrade from MC10 to MC11 is not free.

You can buy MC11 even it is not officially published yet. I did it several months ago. Check the MC11 beta thread on top of this forum. There is a link to the price details.

I don't know the answer, but I do know that purchase is working for other people.  We're seeing a steady flow of purchases.

So, possibilities I can think of are:

Some piece of software on your PC is preventing access.  A pop-up blocker or a firewall.  I know you believe you've got it open, but it's possible it isn't.  You could try another PC if you have one, just to test.

Your Internet provider is blocking access or DNS isn't right.  Shouldn't happen, but strange things do.

The error message is wrong.  Something else isn't working.
