using secure mode for ripping with plextor px-716uf drive
« on: March 31, 2005, 08:36:11 am »

hello

i have recently purchased a plextor px-716uf drive and would like to use it for the secure ripping mode with MC11.  i have tried ripping a couple of cds that i wasn't able to rip using EAC with my old drive, and they ripped fine, but there were problems with the audio playback (stuttering sound, etc).  so clearly secure ripping mode isn't working properly with this drive.  i have read on the EAC forum that there may be an issue with this drive retrieving C2 error information.  would this affect the secure ripping mode in MC?  using the internal drive on my laptop, secure ripping mode does seem to work (which suggests that there is nothing wrong with my settings in MC - they are the same for both drives).  i would like to use the plextor drive as it is quicker and easier to use (and is supposed to be a top quality drive!)

i would be grateful for any advice on this issue

thanks

nick
