I have MC set to use Tivo port 9000 and library port 9010.  Whenever I restart my machine the Tivo beacon service from the Tivo Desktop 2.0 fails to start while MC is running.  As far as I know, the beacon service from tivo uses port 2190.  So I am not sure how MC is interfering..  If I stop the Tivo service in MC then I can start the Tivo beacon daemon.

Does MC have a beacon component too?  Can it coexist with the one from Tivo?

Sadly I need to download shows via the Tivo software as MC does not currently support this.

MC has a TiVo Beacon Lite, that it only starts if it can't find the TiVo beacon from TiVo.
Just start the TiVo beacon service first, and that should fix the problem.

If it is a service (like it is) how can I change the load order.  I have windows login automatically (Very secure).  Perhaps because I do this, MC is somehow loaded before the Tivo Beacon.

Well I will then have to make MC a service and make it have a dependency on the Tivo beacon service.

I suppose I could do this, but I cannot imagine this will not become an issue for many others as well.

Could you explain how Media Center starts before the Tivo Beacon does? I'm not sure I follow how this happens...

Well I used tweakUI to auto login to winXP as It is only used by me.

I guess by shear luck MC loads first in this configuration.  I guess I will use SrvAny.exe and make MC a service.

Strange, I thought services would come up before the auto-login stuff.

I could add a delay in, that might help...

Yeah I agree, that is quite strange.  Not sure the delay would be the best "long term" solution.

I'll think about it.....hmmmmmmmm
