When using multiple views, these are not saved when closing MC.
The startup options are referring to the era only one view was possible.
I would prefer an option that says: "start views as in previous sessiosn".

Or just an Option to save, an startingview for each splitview.
An Example
I would like to start my Media Center with "Playing Now" for the upper view and "Libraby Browswer" for teh bottom one.

Hope you know what I mean.

My vote here too. I normally want to use "Playing Now" up and "Library Browser" down, and have to arrange the views manually every time I start MC.

Would you agree that every split view should have it's own search option?
That would mean that I can search in my library without filtering the upper view: being Playing Now or maybe a playlist.
Now it is impossible to drag the found song (in view 2) to the correct spot in Playing Now (view 1).

The way it's done can be really usefull.
If you want to see I can show you a typicall use case :

Let's say you want to burn an mp3 cd and have to chose a lot of songs (or want to add a lot of songs to playing now or whatever you want).
- Set a view to your library and let the other set to the playlist (or playing now)
- Type "Alanis Morisette" (or whatever artist you want if you don't like Alanis ) in the search field
This way you can see all alanis songs currently in your playlist (or playing now) and choose to remove some or add more.

Now it is impossible to drag the found song (in view 2) to the correct spot in Playing Now (view 1).

Are you sure? I didn't tryed recently but I'm pretty sure it worked before. If it don't work anymore then :
- It can be a bug
- The above use case don't work anymore too
- I'm agree with you (the search filtering all views is useless)
- It's too bad

I tried this and you are right, UNFORTUNATELY.
More and more I am missing the point of having more views.
For me it was the biggest drive to upgrade to MC11.
If you share this please respond! Doing so we can pursuade Jim and his colleages to build these typical 'multiple view functionalities' into a next release.

I think every user, from the basic one to the MC-expert, will still try to drag and drop files between two split views, even if there's some text typed in the search field. Not allowing this IMO results in a strange behavior.
The user have to clear the search field if he want to be able to drag and drop a file. This defeats the purpose of the search field! ?

It sounds Not pratical, Not logical and Not intuitive to me, but I'm perhaps missing something?
I hope that the reason it doesn't work is because it's not an trivial modification (and not because it's by design)

Search is global to all views by design.

Dropping to an ordered list that is filtered by a search isn't possible, since it's ambiguous what it would mean.

For view specific searches, you can use Ctrl+Q.

I think it should insert the file :
- respectfully to the order of the ordered list (if it's ordered by any Item like artist,name,rating...) if there is one
- just after the dropped position in a arbitrairy ordered list
- at the end of the list in a arbitrary ordered list (if there are no items shown due to the filter)

I think it's not very clear, and if it's not a definitive no on your side, I will make some mockups to illustrate what a "not ambiguous" behavior would be...

I'm sorry, but there will be no more changes to MC11 at this time.  Once we release 11.0, we'll consider it.

I understand that it is by design and that you want to freeze the current version.
I sincerely hope you will consider to upgrade the fucntionality around split views in 11.1.x!!

Ctrl-Q is a possibility, but it is a poor alternative.

The Library Browser looks more promising, beause you can filter in that view and still drag a song to the second view.
Disadvantage is that the Library Browser seems to have a fixed configuration?
