We think some piece of software wrote file assocation strings to the registry without properly terminating them.  Windows goes out of its way to prevent this from happening, so we're not sure what that program did.  Anyway, MC didn't like the non-terminated strings.

Please try the next build and see if the "Exception" entries are gone from the log file.  Hopefully they will be.

Thanks everyone for all the help.

Any clue as to which piece of nasty software did this, so I can rid it from my system?

Oh, and thank you for all the help.  Diagnosing another programmer's screw-up can't be very much fun.

Bump -- hopefully someone can confirm that the exceptions are gone from the logs with 246.

Thanks.

As expected, no exceptions.   :)

Thanks.

P.S.

I installed the build 245 back because the Analyzer wasn't working. After having 246 installed 245 is exception free too.

Yeah, I imagine he just changed it to check for and fix the Registry error.  I'd really still like to know which errant piece of software caused this...

We think it was one of the unusual codecs that people sometimes install.  Nothing more certain than that.  It's a fairly harmless error on their part, but it caused Matt some extra work.

Well, I would like to extend a huge thanks to Matt for his work on this.  One more paying customer that isn't going anywhere anytime soon...
