I'm getting an Out of Memery error box when I'm syncing my iPod Mini.
The playlist I'm syncing should leave around 16 megs free space on my ipod.  When the Ipod gets below 30 megs of space on the iPod I get the Out of Memory error.  If I take items out of my syncing playlist so that I should have over 30 megs free I do not get the error. 

Am I the only one experiencing this??

What build are you using?  Copy your system info from MC Help and paste it here.

If not the latest build, please try it.

MC reserves space for database creation and writing. You must be cutting it too close for the current reserve limit. I will take a look at this.

I just tried .248 and still got the error.
If I drop my sync list so I have 30 megs free it works fine, but the minute the sync leaves less than 30 megs I get the out of memory error. How llarge is the DB on the iPod??

The database file is called iTunesDB. You will find it if you browse on your iPod through Explorer to the iPod_Control\Itunes folder on your iPod.  The file is dynamic so the size fluctuates. The space to leave is calculated dynamically as well. In your case, please tell me the size of your iTunesDB file and what size iPod you have and I can try to tweak the code to cut this closer.

The size of the iTunesDB is 704KB. I have a 4gig iPod Mini. It is the older generation mini. I got it around a year ago. This problem only appeared after I installed RC 247. All builds before that would sync correctly without the Out of Memory error.

Can you specifically describe the Out of Memory error. Does it say anything else?

I installed RC .249 and am still getting the error.

The message is

Out of Memory. Upload aborted.

The handheld debug log says:
6:21:55 PM: Handheld: CHHManager::CloseIfDisconnected: Start

That's all it says. I have tried reducing the number of songs that sync so there is 30 meg free the iPod. When I leave this extra space I can sync without issues.

I have used Larry's iPod notes to set up what files to sync to my iPod. I'm using a Smartlist that shows 3.7gig in the list and the iPod shows 3.8 gig available.

Any ideas??

Assume for now that you'll need to leave 30MB open.  That's not much space -- around 1% of your drive.   Calculations of available space aren't as precise as they might be.

I did  notice slight improvement in the recent .250 build. I can now get down to around 25 MB before getting the Out of Memory error.

Jim, I don't understand why MC would be reserving that much extra space for the iTunesDB. The iTunesDB file usally hovers around 1 MB in size but MC reserving around 25 MB. This seems a bit excessive.
