MC11: Visualization setting "cycle" not saved on exit
« on: March 07, 2005, 10:37:34 am »

I have a few of my own vizualizations that i want MC11 to cycle between
when playing musicfiles. This works fine, but when i restart MC the "cycle"
setting isn't saved. Instead a single visualization is selected.
This seems like an MC11 only "bug" as this works perfectly in MC10.
So now i have to re-set the "cycle" setting each time i start MC11.
Perhaps you might consider addressing this issue in the next release? :)
TIA

Well, seems the problem was somewhat different. Seems that MC11 at some point registered that I had changed the visualization setting to show ONE of my own visualizations.
Later on I told MC11 to cycle between ALL my visualizations - which it does until i exit and restart.
Now only one of my visualizations is selected.
The visualization that keeps getting selected as the default is the one i selected the FIRST time i changed the settings.

I tried to rename the visualization that was always selected as the default visualization and then as the FIRST change after that I selected to cycle between the visualizations. Now MC11 remebers this setting even after a restart,

Go figure :)

I'll just bump this one, as this issue hasn't been commented on or addressed
by anyone but me :)

Running the 247 release at the moment, and MC11 still won't remember
the cycle setting when using Visualizations.
Every time I restart MC11 only one Visualization is seleceted although
I selected to cycle eg. the Collage folder.
This is quite annoying - especially since I'm using a set of Visualizations
with elements places in different locations on the screen to prevent
burn-in.

How to recreate this error:
Select to display a Visualization.
Select to cycle a set og Visualizations.
Select A SINGLE Visualization.
Restart MC.
Select to cycle a set og Visualizations.
Restart MC.
MC now only runs the SINGLE Visualization selected
earlier.

As stated originally, the only way I found to "solve"
this issue was to rename the Visualization selected
earlier.

Been able to recreate this on 2 out of 2 computers,
so I'm pretty sure this is a general issue :-)

Thanks for the detailed steps.  This should be fixed next build.

Image burn is fairly much unheard of on home PCs. Its only likely to occur on commercial systems that display one static image all day every day for years. And with systems like that... who cares if after several years you get a faint shadow of the image when its switched off?

Screen savers are a gimmick, initially designed to use idle CPU power to show off a machines fancy graphics abilities, never really to save screens. Whirling 3d text was once quite impressive on a 1980s PC, but a bit passe now. More useful to set the video output to switch itself off when not being used.

Correct, but with the introduction of plasma screens this is very much a concern of mine.
(And even more so a concern of the owner of the screen  :) )
I have set up a system that runs several hours a day, and therefore I would like the
image to change so that different areas of the screen is used evenly.

Anyway ... Since the "cycle" feature exist, it should work - image burn og no image burn  :)
