First off, Access Control isn't only for dodgy stuff :P

Secondly, would it do what you needed if there were a keyboard shortcut to toggle it?

A toolbar button would be really cool...

I keep 2 versions of songs in my Library... mp3 and ape. It's annoying to have to go into the Access Control so I can see or not see the files in Library Browser.

true, depends on your viewpoint though.
