MC11 Somes areas of slowness?
« on: April 28, 2005, 02:49:46 am »

Hi there,

I have followed a few other threads in regard to some of these issues but thought i would ask some questions (or state some observations) of my own.

Burning CD's seems very slow (Drives are running in DMA Mode)
Initail library startup takes approx 15 seconds before anything on screen
Changing views - very slow, up to 10 secs
Tagging - sometimes extremely slow (whilst updating library)
regaining focus back in search box after a search
rapid scrolling sometimes resulting in causing MC to apparently lock for a few seconds

My library is very large with 122,000 files.  When the "slowness" occurs the CPU Utilisation is always at 100% (with all of this attributed to MC)  Memory usage is also very high (as you can see from system info 400Mb in use).  This PC is purely a Music Server and is running nothing else

There are NO plugins loaded (except for library server which comes with MC)

System info is below.

Any thoughts / comments?

Thanks

Graham

Do you have any calculated fields in your views?  Try a search for similar problems if so.

Are you using a network drive?

Hi Jim,

Dont even know what a calculated field is - so i assume not.

The views i use are standard

and No no network drives, all internal , local and using DMA (def not PIO)

Cheers
