adamsp70: MC 11 Remember Display Mode
« on: May 17, 2005, 01:16:07 pm »

Bug from the past few releases:

From TheaterView play something - FullScreen appears showing Cover Art.

Right-click and change the Display to any other visual

Ctrl-S to stop play and then Ctrl-P to start again.

We are back viewing Cover Art again!

How can i get my setting to stay put?

We can't reproduce this.

Is the switching modes part necessary?

Does it apply to all display types, or only certain ones?

Thanks.

I'll try and give more details....

The machine being used is a low-powered laptop which is running as a client connecting via Library Server to a PC over wireless.

I run it in TheaterView all the time, and when you press play the mode switches automatically to FullScreen (as it should).

However it always comes up in Cover Art no matter what you change it to whilst in FullScreen.

Does that help - can i tell you any more?

Cheers...

Have jsut tried on 270 with same results, however have discovered something new which may help....

If i right click when it is playing in Fullscreen i get all the options under display. But when i stop playing and return to TheaterView and right-click, the ONLY option under Display is for Covert Art.

This must be why it is defaulting to that - but where did all the options go?

And more....

If i am playing music in Standard View, i can change the display to anything i want. Ctrl-S stops the music and then the only option under Display is Cover Art again.

So this isn't something specific to TheaterView.

You can only show some displays when there is music playing.  MC should automatically switch back once music starts again.

Usually yes - but my initial description still holds true, it doesn't go back to my choice if it has automatically switched from Fullscreen to TheaterView and back again.

This doesn't happen on my other installations, so maybe it is a timeout affected by the speed of my laptop (very slow)?

I'm still having problems with this. I appreciate it is really hard to debug something if you can't replicate it, but i promise it is happening!

If it is due to speed of machine, you may find more people discover it as the product is released as beta-testers tend to have better machines than the rest of the world :-)

Is there any way i can help you get to the bottom of it? Run in debug mode?
