Hi,

Since version 11.0.275 I've been getting the following error when playing an audio CD...

After track 3 on any CD I'm playing, when the track changes the an error box pops up with "Failed to create CD Manager control" if I click OK twice the popup disappears and the track plays fine... until it changes tracks again.

When the CD finishes MC shuts itself down without an error messages.

I have a CD/RW and DVD/RW drive and the same happens on both of them.

Any ideas what the problem is?

The processor may be an Athlon64 3000+, but it's not running as one.  I would check my BIOS settings on the computer and get the processor running in spec first before I try to solve any software problems.  Running the processor that far out of spec can lead to all kinds of weird problems.  Not to mention that your computer is running signifgantly slower than it should be!

An Athlon64 3000+ should be:

Clawhammer Core = 1.8GHz (1800MHz)
Newcastle Core = 2.0GHz
Winchester Core = 1.8Ghz
Venice Core = 1.8GHz

Your's is running at 792Mhz or 0.79Ghz.  Most likely you have something set wrong in the BIOS.  Either the FSB, the Multiplier, or both.  Try setting the CPU/Memory stuff in the BIOS to "Auto" and see what happens.  Your Processor should be detected and not listed as Unknown.  That means it isn't running in spec (either overclocked or in your case severely underclocked).

We've been able to duplicate the error and should have it fixed for the next build.

Glad you could duplicate the problem.

I imagine the reason the processor isn't displaying properly is because I'm running Cool n' Quiet. The processor is recognised correctly in Sandra. I'll double the check the bios settings just in case...

Ahh!  That's almost definately it.  Sorry, and disregard.

So often, people have overclocked or non-standard hardware settings and yet blame the problems on software.  Whenever problems are bizarre and random, I always check hardware first.
