DSP-RadioGain Issue
« on: July 06, 2003, 11:11:18 am »

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.399
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 1715 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 785 MB, Free - 526 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1 Service Pack 1 (Build 2600)

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2800.1106
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2800.1145
wnaspi32.dll: Internal ASPI Layer

My practice is to select +/- 100 tracks for gain analysis.

Every now and then--mostly with VBR tracks it seems--Gain Analysis will be way off overcorrecting--for example on the current track -24db. Of course you cant't hear the track when it plays. So I run Gain Analysis again and this time it gets it right -8db.

Also related to this DSP will not open after this type of error occurs. Seems like something gets corrupted. I have to close MJ then reopen it. Then everything is back to normal.

I hear that DSP has been improved in MC9. However I tried MC9 for a while and found myself overwhelmed with the features. I'm strictly into audio and don't care for visualizations with my music. Too much so I migrated back to MJ8 where I am more comfortable for now.

Any hope for integrating some of the audio enhancements in MC 9 to MJ8 for those of us who want to stick with a great and familiar audio product?

Listening to: 'Philson' from 'Motor City Scene' by 'Donald Byrd & Pepper Adams' on Media Jukebox.

Thanks...
