Ipod Photo and Ratings
« on: June 12, 2005, 09:34:04 am »

So I was just on vacation and I updated many of my ratings on my ipod. Well, when I synced none of the new ratings were transfered. I then did a test where I would undock the ipod photo, change one files ratings, doc it, and sync it again. No luck. It deleted the file on the ipod and upload the old rated one from media center. I look at my sync options and I have checked sync data to mc. Am I missing something else?

Thanks.

What you are doing should work. I can retest it tomorrow.

Please do. I just retried it again, and it still does not work. I am using the latest beta of 11.

Thanks.

I just retested this with my iPod Photo and it works.

If you have 'Sync Data to PC' selected, when you click 'Synchronize' in the Action Window MC compares the files on the iPod against the MC database. If the Date Modified on the file in MC is older than the time of the last sync, and the new rating on iPod is not 0, then MC will set the rating in the MC library to whatever is on the iPod. This occurs even if you close out of the MC AW after clicking the initial sync button that brings up the list of your selected playlists.

If you are setting the rating on iPod to 0, this data will not be added to MC.
If you have modified the changed rating file in any way in MC since the last sync, this will not work (i.e. updating tags, etc.)

Thanks.

There was my issue. I was setting the rating to 0. From now on, I will set it to 1.
