buffer underuns

does mj support burnproof to prevent buffer underuns?  using the cd writer which came with my dell, i get buffer underuns trying to burn at 20x (it is supposed to be able to burn at 40x). i know the max burning speed is not achieved in the real world, but i should be able to burn at half that speed.  any suggestions?
