Ipod
« on: June 30, 2005, 01:46:12 pm »

I am using an Ipod and recently when I went to plug it in a blurb pops up and says "INITIALIZATION FAILURE. DEVICE NOT FOUND"  What can I do?

Had your iPod been working successfully with MC prior to this? If so, probably a hardware issue.

If not, what version of MC do you have? What OS?

Has it been a while since you listened to music on your iPod? Play a song on your iPod all the way through then plug it back in to MC and try to sync again.

Yes - My Ipod was working with MC 11 before.  THis is very recent that it started not to work.

I've tried playinga song all the way through and tried to resync and nothing.  Do you think it's the IPOD or MC11.  I even tried hooking my friends Ipod up and got the same response.

Try running the iPod updater on your iPod.

No.

I don't think so.
If you are still stuck after iPod updater, look in your MC Plugins directory and verify that there is a file called hh_portable.dll there.

Well -I did Ipod updater and still nothing.  I looked for the file hh_portable.dll, but I did not find it.  It might be because I don't know where to look.  If it is not there what should I do?

I plug my Ipod into my MC11.  A warning says "Initialization failuer. Device not found"  At this point I have run Ipod Updater.  I have plugged other Ipods into the computer and I can't get MC11 to work with it.  It had been working with no problems until recently.  What should I do?  Is the problem with MC11?  I have Itunes on my computer and it works fine, but who wants to use Itunes.

PLEASE help!

Not inherently. There is something else going on here.

What changed recently for you? Where are you installing MC (to what drive, etc)?

You should be able to find hh_portable.dll in your Media Center 11\Plugins directory.

Nothing has changed - I haven't done anything different.  I was able to find hh_portable.dill in the directory.

Now what?  Any ideas?

When I go to Plug-in Manger and click on Handheld then Portable Drives, I get a warning " Cannot create handheld plug-in "Portable Drives".

Does this have anything to do with it?

Any Ideas?

What is the next step?

Is there a way to save my playlists? I do not want to lose them.
