Hmm. This just happened today, it did not happen before, same version of MC.
I ripped a few CDs. Fine. Then I downloaded some MP3s and tried to import them. MC counted the files, saved my library (the only option I have checked) and then started to import. The AW said "1 of 22", but before the progress bar even started, I got the Media Core error as follows:
