Big X in hh_port
« on: July 10, 2005, 07:52:22 am »

I'm having this problem since .304. Whenever I connect my iPod, MC starts to recognize it, then gives me a small box whose title starts "hh_port. . ." (I can't see anymore of it) with a big red X in it and an OK button.

In .304 I tried uninstall and reinstall, but I was unable to do that (it would just hang on some dll). Now I've moved to .305 and I'm having the same problem. So I haven't been able to sync my iPod in days.

BTW, I was able to sync my Muvo N200 just fine. Maybe I have a bad hh_port. . . file? Is there a way to just replace that?

Ooh, just remembered a potentially important piece of info -- I've upgraded to the latest iPod firmware (on my iPod photo that is 1.2 I think).

Try deleting your iTunesDB file from the iPod and then recreate it from within MC using the right click 'Rebuild Database from iPod' option. Then resync.

I also had this same problem with a freshly installed Windows XP and Media Center.  I installed the iPod Updater (but didn't actually update the iPod since it was already up to date).  The hh_port problem went away.  However, I had to do the "Rebuild Database on iPod" to do any playlist manipulation again.

I upgraded my mini to the most current firmware and got the same problem. I used Itunes to load up a podcast on my ipod and then I tried to use MC to get rid of it by resyncing a playlist. That's when I got the big red X problem. I read on another site that there is a "type" field in the ItunesDB that distinguishes the podcasts. I would like to continue using MC for my syncing but  Itunes Podcast feature is nice.

Is there anyway to run an import on a specific folder everytime I open MC??

Maybe. I am not sure. Please check the main board for suggestions.

Dremo,

check in the 3rd Party section. I think there is an Auto Update plug-in that might do this. I haven't checked it out myself though.
