aTagger v1.3.0 released 7/17/05
« on: July 17, 2005, 03:26:43 pm »

I'm happy to announce the release of aTagger v1.3.0.  It is available for download at http://aTagger.auldridge.biz.

Information on all of the recent updates can be found at http://aTagger.auldridge.biz/downloads/readme.txt.  In a nutshell, this version of aTagger has more updates and more testing than any prior release.  I'm sure that imjustagamer will still be able to find a few bugs in there  ;)

aTagger is a plug-in for JRiver's Media Center.  The function of aTagger is to automatically update the Media Center audio files with album and/or artist information available from online sources. Album data includes Artist, Album, Year, Genre, Image, Rating, Styles, Moods, Type, Review, Songs, Credits, and Parental Advisory.  Artist data includes Born/Formed, Died/Disbanded, Genres, Styles, Tones, Bio, and Albums.

Enjoy...  @l@n

Thanks for the update   ;D

I was wondering if I can install this on top of previous versions of aTagger?

Yes, the standard Windows installer will uninstall the old version (keeping the configuration) and install the new version.

One notable configuration change is that "Tones" were renamed to "Moods" so you want to double check the Tagging Options are set ok regarding Tones/Moods.

I fixed a bug that caused Artist only (missing Album) lookups to fail under some conditions.

matshif, please try http://auldridge.biz:81/atagger/ which is the true url of the aTagger web site.

I have a dynamic IP address and I use ZoneEdit to forward http://aTagger.auldridge.biz to http://auldridge.biz:81/atagger/.  Maybe this forwarding is being blocked by a firewall?

Please let me know if this works...  @l@n

It was my Firewall.

Now I have it. Test it later.

Hi Alan,
I'm using 1.3.1

There still are albums that are not coming in that I think should be...

Aerosmith - Little South Of Sanity, A
Black Sabbath - Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath
Iron Maiden - Real Dead One, A
Iron Maiden - Real Live One, A

I tried removing the , A and still no hits...

Thanks

Is that all you got?  I expected lots of hard problems from you gamer  :P

I'll check into these and let you know what the problem is.

I have a question for you...  Do you need an option that strips the ", A" suffix (simular to the option that strips the ", The" suffix)?

Here are the problems that I found (in the HTML at the source web site):
A   Little South of Sanity [live] --> extra spaces after A
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath  --> missing comma
A   Real Dead One --> extra spaces after A
A   Real Live One --> extra spaces after A

I can easily fix the problem with the spaces after the 'A's by removing all redundant spaces.

I probably need to add a new option to strip punctuation;  I could make the option screen allow you to enter the set of characters that should be striped (e.g., ,;:?).

Can you think of any ther characters that I should strip by default?

Who would have thunk it....      ;D

Thanks for looking into this.

I think MC will automatically move  A and The from the beginning and put them at the end   ie   , A and , The (providing you use the clean function)
I can't think of any others that it would move....

Thanks again

Is there a way to refresh the atagger window other than closing and reopening it?  If I make any changes to the tags in my tagging playlist, atagger doesn't recognize the changes unless I  open another view and then reselect atagger.

Alan, first off, thanks for the continued efforts on this helpful plugin. I'm having an issue where the Mood field is not getting populated by the plugin. It doesn't even show that it's found it in the bottom section of the plugin window. However, I've verified that the Moods field does in fact exist in the online source for this CD. I see this across all albums I've tried thus far, but one that for sure doesn't and should: Hotel Costes, Vol. 2. The plugin finds everything else for that album, but not Moods.

thanks

Try renaming the album to,

Hotel Costes, Vol. 2: La Suite

Thanks for the suggestion, however atagger finds the album just fine and fills all the other relevant information, including Styles. It just seems to be the Mood field that it misses... I'll do some more playing with it at home tonight and report back

Shelly, I'm not sure what you mean...  Are you asking if there is a Refresh function (like pressing F5 from many applications)?  If so there is not.

The only way to refresh the list of songs is to select an option outside of aTagger then re-select the aTagger plugin.  For example, I often toggle between Playing now and aTagger.  Every time I return to aTagger it is re-initialized/refreshed.

udeups, please enable Verbose reporting, try processing this song again, then forward the log to me via email.  I'll see what is going on.

One thing that comes to mind...  If you have signed up for AMG and you automatically logon, you should go to AMG and logoff before running aTagger.  I've never logged on to AMB but I do know that the format of the HTML is different when a user is logged on.

You interpreted what I was trying to say correctly.  I've been also toggling between playing now and aTagger.  Maybe a refresh function is something you could consider for the next version.  Everything else is working great for me.

BTW, it doesn't seem to matter if I'm logged in or not to the data source.

Thanks alot for aTagger alan!

Sometimes when aTagger misses an album with correct name, I try to copy/paste the title direct from Allmusic to my tags. It seems to add a space before the title, and suddenly aTagger can find the album!

It would be nice if aTagger could do this by itself!

example from aTagger log:
"Album: Rumble City, LaLa Land  (currently  Rumble City, LaLa Land)  *** Different ***"
and
Album: Kings of the Wild Frontier  (currently  Kings Of The Wild Frontier)  *** Different ***

Before I added the extra space in front, aTagger would not find those albums. This happens randomly, even on the same artist, one album will need a space in front and others not.

In one of the posts above, @l@n found the problem, and is going to try and correct it.

I hope to have a release of aTagger in the next couple of days that fixes this problem (with spaces) and adds 5-6 new processing options (e.g., strip ", A" suffix; strip "[...]" suffix; strip "(...)" suffix; strip embeded characters (from a user defined list of characters)).

BTW, is anyone having the problem where there is an error when toggling between Playing Now and aTagger?   Or is anyone having a problem with aTagger when MCXML is installed at the same time?

Both of these problems were previously reported and I made changes to try to help the problem but I was unable to reproduce the problems.  I only hope my changes made a difference.

Thanks...  @l@n

I have the conflict with MCXML.
They can be installed at the same time, but MCXML can't be started.
If MCXML is started, I get the error "Interface plugin Atagger could not be found or created".
Stopping MCXML after you get that error still won't allow atagger to start.
It requires stopping MCXML, then exiting and restarting MC.
Then atagger will work again.
Maybe you have a .dll file in command and it's not liking both plugins accessing it?
I should have some time to test this weekend if you post an update.
