Retaining playlists when upgrading
« on: July 19, 2005, 02:07:53 pm »

What or where is the official/approved procedure to make sure my playlists are not lost when upgrading.  (Last time I was lucky enough to have made recent exported lists; 3 upgrades prior,  I lost all...)

It should just work.  Did you try it?  Just install MC11.  It should find and upgrade your data.

Maybe I should ask about doing a clean install or an install-over; all I know is I lost dozens of playlists upgrading last time and had to import my emergency .m3u backups...by the way, is there an option for choosing the destination of exported playlists?

The upgrade did not recognize my existing playlists--it imported the names but were empty.  If I hadn't made the .m3u backup, I would be out of luck.

If you have playlists, export them before upgrading...
