Order of Fields on iPod
« on: July 30, 2005, 10:48:35 am »

is there any way I can change the order thevarious fields show up on the iPod menu.

Fpr Example: if i select Genre, the next menu lists the Artists, however, here I want a list of the Albums as the next field. Is it possible to change the field order?

Thanks

B,

Can you clarify what location you are trying to modify? Do you want to rearrange the fields in the view or are you referring to the tree?

I am referring to the order the fields show up through the iPod menus.

If i Select Genre>   ... then the sort on the next menu is by artist.

However, I want the next sort after Genre to be by Album

Hope I make myslef clear enough

B,

Thanks. I get it now. MC does not control the order of the menus on the iPod. I am not sure if this is customizable. Check with Apple support to see if this is customizable through some setting on the iPod.

The ipod menu is in the firmware and is not user editable.
That's one of the things I miss about the Archos Jukebox that my wife now uses.  There's 3rd party firmware that you can edit a text file and copy that to the player to completely customize what tags are displayed on the lcd and where.
About the only thing I've seen hacked on the ipod so far is the logos, which is useless imo.
www.ipodlounge.com would be the place to go to see if they've made any progress since I last checked.
